The Garden of Allah Hotel and surrounds, Sunset Blvd, circa late 1920s

The Garden of Allah Hotel and surrounds, Sunset Blvd, circa late 1920sI’ve been researching and writing about the Garden of Allah Hotel for 10 years now (!) so it’s a rare and exciting moment when a photo of the hotel surfaces that I haven’t seen before. This is actually one of three photos that a fan alerted me to (thanks, Jean!) The main house is clearly visible in the lower center with the bungalows scattered out behind it. The land to the left of those three apartment towers looks undeveloped, so I’d say this photo was taken before 1931, which is the year that the Sunset Medical Building opened. That’s the building that housed Schwab’s.
