Vintage postcard of the Garden of Allah Hotel, 8152 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, circa 1930s

I’ve been reading, researching, and writing about the Garden of Allah Hotel for 10 years. So you’d think by now I’d have acquired an artifact or memento from it. Alas, no. There just aren’t that many, and the few that surface go for amounts beyond my budget. But thanks to a follower of this page, this week I acquired a vintage, linen-backed postcard. I’ve seen this image before but was never really sure where it came from. But now I do! It’s a promotional postcard they probably offered at the front desk or part of the Guest Information pack in the rooms. And now that I have something from the Garden, I find I’m quite agog at the thought of holding something that actually was there.

Such vibrant crisp colors! What a treasure. I love these old linen postcards.

Along this same style, have you seen this beautiful one of the Chapman Park Hotel and Bungalows?

More interesting info on the Chapman – click on the pics to make them bigger. There’s a short video at the bottom of the web page (I muted the music)
