If I’d lived anywhere near Box Market at 1532 W. Whittier Boulevard back in (May of) 1939 (when this photo was taken) I’d have shopped there, if only for their eye-catching signage alone! This style of lighting store signs was so effective, I’m surprised more people don’t do it.
