This shot looks like something taken out of a 1950s film noir, doesn’t it? Maybe a scene where the police detective tracks the villain across LA one dark, wet night to the Crossroads of the World outdoor mall on Sunset Blvd, a couple of blocks down from Hollywood High. Actually, it wouldn’t be hard to recreate this shot from November 1954 – the place looks pretty much the same, except those palm trees are now three times taller and we rarely have wet nights anymore.
