View of Beverly Gardens Park at the corner of Beverly and Santa Monica, 1920

Beverly Gardens Park is the landscaped park along Santa Monica Blvd at Beverly Dr. It opened 1911, five years after the Beverly Hills development started. This panoramic photo was taken in 1920, and with only one house in view, it shows how slow Beverly Hills was to take off.

  1. PDQ says:

The house is still there. Sadly, it’s been “updated” with some boxy, white stucco add-ons: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0724146,-118.4041062,3a,75y,319.87h,83.09t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sf0DG-oYd7b7K7NXHdiRXRw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1

With some people, their taste is all in their mouths…….(sigh)
