This overhead shot of a Pacific Electric Red Car on Hollywood Blvd. in 1946 shows us how dangerous it actually was to wait for the streetcar. Passengers had to wait on a thin strip in the middle of the street, bordered in white paint, but no protective barrier, or raised platform to shield them from vehicles. It also looks like that streetcar is full, so I bet the others are wishing they could ride in that car pulled up alongside them!
