There is something about the original Brown Derby restaurant on Wilshire Blvd that epitomizes golden-era Hollywood for me. And when I find a color shot of the place, it allows me to slip more easily into imagining what it must have been like to walk through that red door and “eat in the hat.” (And in my mind, I’d probably be driving the powder blue car parked on the side street.)
I thought the original location of the Brown Derby was one block over between Mariposa and Alexandria. My understanding was it was taken out when the Chapman Park Hotel added on the Bungalows on the front of the property in advance of the 1932 Olympics.

Actually, you’re right, PDQ. It had two locations on Wilshire.
