The date on this photo of the Bullocks Wilshire department store tower on Wilshire Boulevard is 1956, but in a funny sort of way, it’s timeless—which isn’t something I often get to say about Los Angeles architecture. The Bullocks building is still there, as are those buildings to the left. The building on the right with the three floors of white brick was the Town House Hotel. It’s still there and is now and apartment building. The main difference is the streetlight has changed and the trees are bigger. Well, that and less traffic.
