Original MGM gates on Washington Blvd, Culver City, circa mid 1930s

Original MGM gates on Washington Blvd, Culver City, circa mid 1930sI’m not sure which detail of this photo I like best: the 10 columns of MGM’s original gate (which are still around); the light-colored 1934 Cadillac convertible on the left; the circa 1929 Ford Model A station wagon next to it; the fact you could park outside MGM; or that you could post your letters there (far left.) Who am I kidding? I love it all.

Calgon moment…please take me back! Love the Caddy convertible, but I’ll take the Woody next to it as well.

Here’s another interesting shot from 1927 – our little mailbox is there as well. Wonder who the gent out front is – what he’s doing there and/or waiting for? Note the sign on the far right announcing an upcoming Lon Chaney flick – bet it’s for the silent mystery “London After Midnight” co-starring Polly Moran. Gee, that’s another name from the past who isn’t remembered (much) today.

    Thanks, Martin.
