I must admit to feeling a frisson of excitement when I come across a color photograph of Hollywood Boulevard. This one was taken in the 1940s after Nancy’s had replaced I. Magnin on the Ivar Avenue corner. As we can see, this neighborhood was a busy, vibrant shopping and eating precinct – I wish I had been able to experience it during it full flower.
Oh, what a beauty! Love the sun bathing the Broadway Hollywood edged against the blue sky. Gives me a nostalgic feeling, as does all pics from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Thank you for posting this pic (I spent 1950-54) working in the Taft Building (Y&R) and the photo means so much to me. Love always, L&M.

Here’s another landmark-filled pic from 1939.
