Looking east on Wilshire Boulevard from Detroit Street, Los Angeles, 1941In this 1941 photo, we’re on Wilshire Blvd at the corner of Detroit St, looking east. On the right is one of the Melody Lane restaurants that used to dot Wilshire Blvd. The other two were at Western Ave and Beverly Dr., and there was one at the Hollywood and Vine corner from 1940 to 1955. This particular one used to be a Pig ‘n Whistle like the one on Hollywood Boulevard now. On the left is the old Myer Siegel & Co. department store in the Dominguez Wilshire Building.
