A letter from Eddie Cantor in 1954

Eddie-Cantor-letter 1954

Cole in Melbourne, Australia just sent me this letter that Eddie Cantor wrote to his father (a TV and radio personality) back in 1954. For someone with such a legendary career behind him, Eddie sounds so humble and normal, doesn’t he? The sort of person you’d like to hang out with…and hear all the stories, because you *know* Canter must have had no end of stories.

Hi – my reaction to this letter was the same as yours. i.e. he sounds like a very nice human being. Never met him but enjoyed his work.
Spent most of the afternoon reading “Tinseltown Confidential” and SO happy you have another hit on your hands. Just great!!!!
Love always to you and Bob, L&M.

My father is Bob Horsfall O.A.M (Order of Australia Medal for services to the Entertainment Industry). He started in an acrobatic tap act in vaudeville at the age of 11years and had a career in entertainment for over 60 years. As well as working as an individual he had a vocal group The Tunetwisters that worked on tours with the likes of Mel Torme, Stan Freberg, Betty Hutton and Frank Sinatra.
