I’m always up for a behind-the-scenes shot of “Gone with the Wind” – especially if it’s in color. This is a shot of Tara on the Selznick International in Culver City. I don’t have a date on it but it looks like it’s in pretty good condition. But what I truly love about this photo that we can see is the studio’s water tower on far right – a touch of Hollywood movie-making realness right there!
Map of Pathe Studio Ranch / RKO Studios / Selznick International / “40 Acres Ranch”:
A friend of mine who knows quite a bit about Gone with the Wind and the production says, “It must be during filming, because it’s very clean and the trees are there. The trees are constructed around those large poles, holding them up.”

And let’s not forget the O’Hara plantations traditional metal water tower!
