Crowds at Broadway and 7th Street, Los Angeles, 1930

Crowds at Broadway and 7th Street, Los Angeles, 1930I love how this photographer chose to capture nothing more special than a bunch of people walking around downtown L.A. These days, the corner of Broadway and 7th Street is still a busy intersection, but you can bet your sweet bippy that nobody is dressed in a three-piece suit, or wearing a homburg, or a cloche and fur-lined coat. Whenever I see photos like these, I’ll look at, say, the woman and wonder where she was going that day. This is from 1930 so I wonder how well these people survived the coming Great Depression…or didn’t.
