Hollywood Palladium on Sunset Blvd with Freddy Martin and his orchestra, circa 1950s

Hollywood Palladium on Sunset Blvd with Freddy Martin and his orchestra, circa 1950sFrom the ever-fascinating davelandweb comes this striking color night shot of the Hollywood Palladium on Sunset Boulevard, circa 1950s. Freddy Martin was a popular bandleader whose career took him from 1930s radio to being the musical director for Elvis Presley’s first appearance in Las Vegas—and beyond. In other words, he was big enough for the Palladium to put up a banner with his name on the same size as their vertical neon sign. (And I love how the marquee reads “Let’s Go Dancing Tonite”!)
