This 1938 view of the Hotel Laguna at 425 South Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach surprised me. I knew it was a popular vacation spot, but back in the 1930s, it wouldn’t have been easy to get to. So I wasn’t expecting to see quite so many cars and it looks like it was as hard to find a park back then as it does in Laguna Beach today. The good news is that the view hasn’t changed much.
Hi – Jerry & I spent our honeymoon at Laguna Beach (1951). My cousin Maggie Ettinger had a beach house there which she loaned to us for the 6 days each of us had off from work. Great memory. Love, L&M
My aunt and uncle had a duplex a about 100 yards from the beach. My family used to spend summers there. I slept in the converted attic and loved the sound of the surf. My cousin and I used to go down to play in the tide pools. This was back in the 50’s. The Pageant of the Masters is still one of the best Summer treats.
