In the early 1930s, LA’s city planners announced that the city needed a railway station that united all three train lines under one roof. That was great news for Angelenos but not so great for the Chinese population. The site selected for the new Union Station was where Chinatown was located. It took the best part of ten years to move it to the present location, but when it was all done – this photo was taken in 1940 – the result was pretty nice. Well, at least at night with all the lights on. This almost looks like a movie set.
“It’s Chinatown, Jake.” 😉
Ah, so.
