Women wearing slacks at Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Ave, Hollywood, circa 1940What is this world coming to when women parade about in public wearing slacks! Just like men! Obviously the photographer deemed this outrageous act photo-worthy…and those brazen woman don’t seem to mind in the least. This was taken at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Ave, circa 1940. I do love the hairdo on the woman on the left but look at that guy behind them—he looks like he’s on his cell phone.

Those two buildings on the corners behind them are still there, although they don’t look like they did 75 years ago.

Love this! I suspect the guy who appears to be using his cell phone was trying to contact his bookie. Love always, L&M

The old image shows that even a basic camera could see far down that sidewalk all the way to Highland. So the pioneer era shots from Wilcox and Cahuenga really are taking in a lot of empty space along Prospect.
