The view from a westbound double-decker bus at Wilshire and Rampart Boulevards, Los Angeles, circa 1938In this photo, we are treated to the view from atop a double-decker bus, circa 1938. The bus is heading west on Wilshire Blvd and is at the corner of Rampart Blvd. That white building on the right is the Bryson Apartments, whose main claim to fame is that it was featured in Raymond Chandler’s 1943 novel “The Lady in the Lake.” Built in 1913, it’s still there and in fact this view isn’t a whole lot different now than it was back then.
