This 1915 photo shows us how remote the Beverly Hills Hotel was when it opened 1912. What we’re seeing here is the view looking west across the hotel’s front lawn. The path is leading from the front entrance on the right to Sunset Boulevard on the left. That small shelter on the far left is for the Pacific Electric streetcar. And in the background? Nothing but sweet empty Beverly Hills land as far as we can see.
It was a little different then from the times, 1955-1958, I used to go by and even visited the Polo Lounge. It is quite a place. As legendary as your Garden of Allah.
I think friend of mine and I also visited in January 2001.
