Nate ‘N Al’s at 414 N Beverly Dr. in Beverly Hills has been a landmark Jewish deli since 1945. After living in LA for more than 20 years I can’t believe it took me until this year to finally eat there, but the pickles alone was worth the drive. This shot is circa 1948 and I never realized that it was a lot smaller back then. Nowadays, it’s three times bigger than that, and parking was easier than the parallel parking of today. And also, you gotta love that Woody.
My girlfriend and I used to eat breakfast there on her day off (Mon.). All the wheeler dealers had their reserved booths. Lots of schmoozing between producers, top-end realtors and wannabes. I was offered a part in a movie featuring plus size people but being that I am not an actress and although interesting but slightly offensive, I turned it down.
