Passers-by are window-shopping in front of Mandel’s Fascinating Slippers at 518 W. 7th St in downtown L.A. (They also had two locations on Hollywood Boulevard.) At the time this photo was taken (circa 1937) “slippers” was a popular term for upscale ladies shoes (like Cinderella’s slipper and the Silver Slipper casino in Las Vegas.)
