Some of Earl Carroll’s “Most Beautiful Girls in the World” on the revolving stage, 1938In 1938, New York showman Earl Carroll opened his theater at 6230 Sunset Blvd and featured a cast of 60 girls. Even before he stage as built he had his eye toward publicity and got 30 of his “Most Beautiful Girls in the World” to pose on the only-half-built soon-to-be-famous revolving stage. I don’t know that I’d enjoy negotiating a construction site wearing nothing but high heels a two-piece bathing suit, but that’s showbiz, folks.
