For all the improvements to photography over the years, there’s still something special about those Kodachrome images. There’s a vividness that makes me think I can reach through the screen and touch that Buick and that Oldsmobile parked outside the Rexall Drug Store that used to be on the corner of Beverly and La Cienega Boulevards, circa 1948. The building is still there and is still a pharmacy. No offense to CVS, but it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
