The corner of Fourth St and Main St, downtown Los Angeles, 1924In this photo, we’re seeing life going on at the corner of Fourth St and Main St, downtown Los Angeles in 1924. I’ve seen photos of 1920s downtown L.A. with much more traffic and pedestrians so I’m wondering if this was perhaps a weekend. That streetcar went to Sierra Madre, which is past Pasadena and must have been a boon to people who lived way out there in those pre-freeways days.

I’m guessing the Sierra Madre car is Pacific Electric standard gauge, judging by the train door in the end of the car. 😀
