For some reason, I can’t get enough of these photos of Los Angeles’s drive-in restaurants. They always seem to speak of a slower, easier time when a burger could be had for 15 cents. This one is Carpenter’s Drive In Restaurant at Sunset and Vine in Hollywood. It’s dated 1932 and it looks like they were doing a roaring lunch trade. But get a load of that empty land behind it. That’s more shocking than the 20-cent chili con carne!
