This shot of Third Street in downtown Los Angeles in 1905 was captioned: “Los Angeles before the car was king.” It’s an accurate statement because in the one shot we can see a streetcar, bicycles, a horse-drawn carriage, Angels Flight funicular railway—and people walking around. And just think: none of those people lucky people ever had to deal with road rage!
