I love shots like this one of the Tower Theatre at 111 N. Long Beach Blvd in Compton. When taken at night with all the lights on, they’re like beacons summoning us to dream. The two pictures playing that night—“The 39 Steps” and “Woman Wanted”—both opened in August 1935, so I assume that’s the date. Unfortunately, the Tower Theatre is no longer there, but at least we this glorious photograph.
