I do love a well-lit night scene like this one of Pool’s Sandwiches. I found a listing for it in the 1938 LA City Directory at 6290 Sunset Blvd, on the southeast corner of Vine St, Hollywood. I love the way the light is reflected off the car parked to the left. I also love those prices – Chili and beans for 20 cents. But can anyone tell me what a “Special Dutch Lunch Sandwich” would have been?
From the 1938 Los Angeles City Directory (a precursor to the phone books that listed the names, home addresses, and professions of people, as well as businesses.)
Dutch lunch is sliced meats and cheeses so it’s probably like a sub.
