What a gloriously atmospheric photo this is! I love the way the setting sun catches the water behind the lighthouse. This is a circa-1930 view of the then-called Roosevelt Highway (now the Pacific Coast Highway, aka “PCH”) near the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, which extends from the old Marion Davis beach house to Inceville, where early film pioneer Thomas Ince had studio/ranch in the early 1920s.

From Susan M: “The old lighthouse was taken down in the early 70s. It was going to be moved up to Pepperdine University, but it cracked into pieces when they tried to move it. It never was a real lighthouse. It had been part of an old lighthouse theme bath house in the 30s. It did have a lighted beacon atop it however.

I wonder if that lighthouse is the same one discussed here as being part of Inceville.
