Hollywood panorama, 1910

Hollywood panorama, 1910Hollywood is virtually unrecognizable in this aerial photograph taken in 1910. In fact, I’d be hard-pressed to even recognize it at all if it wasn’t for the Hollywood Hotel. The street at the bottom with the line of trees is Hollywood Boulevard (at the time it was called Prospect Ave) and if you follow it up to the right, that large building is the hotel. Who’d have guessed that screwy, ballyhooey Hollywood was ever such a small, bucolic country village?
