Aerial view of the northern end of Vine Street, Hollywood and beyond, circa early 1940sThe northern end of Vine Street above the Hollywood Boulevard intersection has been long dominated by the iconic Capital Records building (opened 1956) and the Hollywood Freeway that it can be easy to forget that area was once covered in homes. This Life magazine photo is circa early 1940s and pretty much the only building I recognize is the one on the far left at Vine and Yucca, which now houses the LA campus of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
