The Earl Carroll Theater, Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, lit up at night in 1947The Earl Carroll Theater at 6230 Sunset Boulevard just east of Vine Street must really have been a striking sight to see—especially at night with that enormous neon face of one of the 60 chorus members that were featured each night at what was billed as “the largest legitimate theater in the world.” This photo was taken in 1947, a year before Earl and his girlfriend Beryl died in a plane crash, after which the place became the Moulin Rouge.
