The walkway along Venice Beach, California, 1926

The walkway along Venice Beach, California, 1926The pedestrians perambulating along the Venice Beach walkway in this 1926 photo are fairly heavily dressed, so I’m guessing it wasn’t the height of summer. Still, I envy them all that elbow room. It seems like every time I go down to Venice, that walkway is packed with a never-ending pageant of humanity in all its glorious plumage (to put it kindly.) But look at those two-light streetlamps. They’re probably not nearly as efficient as the ones there now, but they’re so much prettier!
