Nine people take a real estate development tour of Hollywoodland, 1928

Nine people take a real estate development tour of Hollywoodland, 1928The Hollywoodland development opened for business in 1923, describing itself as a “superb environment without excessive cost on the Hollywood side of the hills.” But things didn’t take off like a firework. So then they built a sign, and interest developed. In this photo we can see nine people take a real estate development tour of Hollywoodland on a couple of jitneys in 1928. I wonder if any of them plunked their money down and regretted it when the stock market crashed the following year.

And that house behind them is still there!
