Of all the places around LA that I’ve set scenes in my Garden of Allah novels, it’s the Tick Tock Tea Room at 1716 North Cahuenga Ave in Hollywood that seems to evoke the most memories. It wasn’t until I found this photo and researched a bit more that I found the place had 48 clocks—hence the name—duh! It must have been might good eating because it was open from 1930 until 1988. It was popular 3-course dinners that with a basket of beloved Sticky Orange Rolls, sweet enough to be desert.
