Grass hut outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Hollywood Blvd, August 1928

Grass hut outside Grauman's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Blvd, August 1928I was watching a short film taken in the late 1920s on and around the streets of Hollywood when this caught my eye, so I took a screen shot. Instead of the usual marquee extending from the front door to the curb outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, we see this grass’n’bamboo hut, which was built as a publicity stunt for “White Shadows in the South Seas” in 1928. Also: can we talk about that magnificent car parked out front?

Rolls Royce, if I’m not mistaken.

  2. Cole Horsfall says:

The car….it’s an imported Rolls Royce. Note the right hand steering wheel.
