I could find zero information about when this charming vista across the Hollywoodland real estate development in the Hollywood hills was taken. But given how the land is starting to be filled in but every square foot hasn’t yet been crowded, my guess is probably early 1930s. I’d imagine these days, all those trees and shrubbery would block the view so it’s nice to be able to take in the view!
Probably about the area of the old fashioned motel (with individual cabins) in the hills above the Hollywood Bowl where used to stay on my weekend trips to explore old Hollywood 1955-1956 when I was an ensign students at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. Wonderful memories.
The owners of the hotel took a liking to me. I seem to remember they charged me less than $20 night, but a lot of money for a freshly minted ensign.
