Exterior view of the Carthay Circle Theater as seen from across San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles, 1927I’ll never get sick of finding photos of the Carthay Circle Theatre that I’ve never seen before. I especially love this one from 1927 (a year after the theater opened) because we get to see the building itself. Many photos taken here were usually at the big premieres with searchlights and crowds and limousines. And I love those too but with this one, we get to see the building in all its glory—as well as envy that motorist who got to park right out front.

Also from 1927, this sign with triangular revolving panels advertising the theater on Wilshire Blvd. The copy, in addition to advertising “7th Heaven” (1927) also touted the music of Carli Elinor and the prologues by Laughlin.
