Hollywood has never been known for its subtly, as evidenced by this 1920s store. People passing by the Hollywood Flower Pot florist at 1124 N. Vine Street (southeast corner of Banner Ave) would never have been confused by what was for sale.
That same corner in March 2018 now has a Social Security Administration office on it:
Before they built the terrible Social Security building, it was a Carpeteria carpet store with giant genie on the roof. They went out of business in the late 90’s
I prefer the Hollywood Flower Pot over the current building. This is another one of those instances where newer isn’t always better.
The old version certainly had a lot more personality, didn’t it?
