Early view of tree-lined Hollywood Boulevard, circa 1920

It’s hard to imagine that the streets of Hollywood were ever this deserted.

  1. RKC says:

the caption actually reads Hollywood, Cal. There was no Hollywood Blvd during this time, it was called Prospect Ave. So this is likely a residential street in Hollywood, Cal. but probably not Hollywood Blvd or Prospect Ave.

    • I wondered about that too but the caption under the photo said it was Hollywood Blvd. Where I found the photo is a generally reliable source of information but of course nobody is infallible. Prospect Ave was renamed Hollywood Boulevard in the early 1910s so if this photo was taken later than the mid 1910s, then the name is accurate.
