Looking west along Hollywood Blvd from Vine Street, Hollywood, circa 1961

Looking west along Hollywood Blvd from Vine Street, Hollywood, circa 1961The photographer who took this photo of dusk settling over Hollywood Blvd would have been standing just east of the Vine Street intersection. All the lights along the street have turned on: Broadway department store, American Airlines, Hody’s coffee shop, Arthur Murray dance studio, and the two towers of the Warner Brothers radio station, KFWB, on top of their theater. I’ve never noticed the five gold stars along the streetlights before. That billboard is advertising the 1961 Pontiac, so this photo dates to the very early ‘60s.
