With those umbrellas and white raincoats, it looks like Paramount Pictures’ premiere for “Teacher’s Pet” took place on a rainy night of 1958. At the time, the theater was known as the Paramount, but after Disney bought it and restored it in the late 1980s, they returned it to its original name: El Capitan. The movie officially opened on April 1st, so I assume this photo was taken in late March. Assuming both Clark Gable and Doris Day were both there, a rainy night wouldn’t have kept me away.
Disney’s restoration of the El Capitan Theatre is really something. This is how it looked in March 2018:
