"Food For Victory / Victory Garden" billboard with Arthur Murray dance studio, 5828 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, 1942This photo is a sign of the times – billboard with not a commercial product to hawk, but a community message to broadcast. “Let’s All Raise Food For Victory / Watch This Model Victory Garden Grow” was designed to encourage Angelenos to start a vegetable garden in which they could grow their own produce. With so much food going to feed the military, and many items being rationed, growing your own food was the best solution. Behind it we can see an Arthur Murray dance studio, which had an unusually high tower:

That building remains largely unchanged today, through the tower (is that the right word for something like this?) stands out less because of the building that went up right next door. The following two images are from March 2021:
