Looking east along Hollywood Blvd from the Iris Theatre, 6605 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, 1956

Looking east along Hollywood Blvd from the Iris Theatre, 6605 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, 1956In this photo (which is possibly a postcard) we’re gazing east along Hollywood Blvd, across Wilcox Ave toward the Warner Theatre, which in its heyday is where Warner Bros. movies often had their premiere. The photographer was standing west of the Iris Theatre at 6506 Hollywood Blvd (check out that wonderful Art Deco blade sign!) where MGM’s “Friendly Persuasion” starring Gary Cooper was playing, which dates this photo at late 1956.

Roughly the same view in April 2018. The Iris Theatre is now the Fox and appears to be a nightclub.

Did Warner Brothers ever open their movies at the Wiltern? That would seem like an impressive venue for an opening.

An odd coincidence, I just saw this video today on FB that shows the same stretch of Hollywood Blvd. The tie shop and record store are visible at the end of the video.
