I really love the simplicity of this photo. It was taken circa 1906 and shows us the first building that housed the Los Angeles Examiner newspaper at 509 Broadway in downtown Los Angeles. William Randolph Hearst started the paper in 1903, so it was really still getting on its feet when those two horses were patiently waiting out front for, I assume, men to load that day’s issue on the large cart. I also love the two bicycles resting against the curb without fear of being stolen.
