About a week ago, I posted a color photo looking east along Sunset Blvd past the NBC studios toward Vine St. This photo is of NBC’s neighbor a few blocks east: CBS radio studios (aka Columbia Square) which opened in 1938. It’s where many of the classic radio shows of the 40s and 50s were performed. Going by the look of the traffic passing by, I’d say this shot is from the early 1950s. In fact, it’s so similar to the photo I posted on July 1st, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was taken at the same time by the same person.
This is how that building looked in November 2021.
My dad went to a radio broadcasting show there once called My Favorite Husband. He said that Lucille Ball was a beautiful woman. You can listen to that show on Internet Archive.

Whoa, Mark, lucky him!
I’m going to try and make out the three panel marquee as best I can:
Panel 1- This one’s blocked by two poles, but…
? ? ? Presents
Art Linkletter’s House Party (then the time–the “M” of AM or PM is visible.)
Panel 2-
California Federal Savings and Loan
Presents — ——ally’s “Noon News”
Panel 3-
Alka-Seltzer Presents “Curt Massey Time”
Curt Massey – Martha Tilton 2:45 PM
A wikipedia entry pertinent to this photo might be:
“On January 2, 1956, Massey debuted on KNX radio in Los Angeles with a 25-minute weeknight program. It lasted three months.” (So pre-recorded if it aired weeknights.)
