Looking inside Marcel Todd’s “Sinning in Hollywood” booklet (1943)

One of the items I saw at the “Out with the Stars” recently mounted by the Hollywood Heritage Museum was a booklet called “Sinning in Hollywood” which appeared to be a guide for servicemen in Los Angeles during WWII. I knew nothing about this publication so I went searching and found images of some of the interior pages which give us an idea of the sort of information it contained.

  1. Martin Pal says:

    Thanks, Martin…so interesting!

In perusing the internet it doesn’t seem like there was any other edition except for 1943!

And for those that think everything looked better “back in the days,” notice that paragraph about Main Street downtown that says, “It’s interesting because it’s so old and shabby. But not attractive.”

    • I’d say Monsieur Marcel was ambitious that “Sinning in Hollywood” would be a yearly publication! How funny that even back then, downtown LA was seen as old and shabby!
