In David Niven’s early Hollywood days – the mid-30s – he shared a villa at the Garden of Allah with Errol Flynn. (He got his break in 1935’s “Barbary Coast” for Goldwyn.) Niven met Flynn at actress Lili Damita’s Garden of Allah villa. Flynn later married Damita but before they got hitched, Errol and David rented a house in Beverly Hills from Rosalind Russell. After the divorce they shared again a house at the beach which they nicknamed ‘Cirrhosis By The Sea,’ which gives you an idea of how much drinking went on.
