It’s not that hard to find photos of the exterior of Schwab’s Pharmacy, but good interior ones are rare. This is probably the best I’ve seen in a long time, and shows how crowded it was all day long. At the back we can see the neon sign saying “Schwab’s Prescriptions Drugs” – that’s where you’d get your prescriptions filled from the doctor upstairs who had a reputation for writing your script for whatever ailed you—or whatever you thought ailed you. The guy in the light suit standing in the middle of the picture is gossip columnist Sidney Skolsky, who used Schwab’s as an office.
